Heating as a Service

Predictable heat.
Up to 80% lower carbon.

Dotz Energy funds, installs and operates a high-efficiency heating system for your site. You purchase reliable heat at a contracted rate set below an agreed gas, diesel or mazut base case — creating predictable savings with no upfront capital expenditure.

How Heating as a Service works

From current fuel cost to reliable, lower-carbon heat.

A contracted rate, set below your agreed fuel baseline — not a share of savings.

01

Establish the base case

Current gas, diesel or mazut use and cost are assessed and agreed as the reference index.

02

Agree the heating rate

A contracted rate is set below the agreed indexed fuel baseline.

03

Install and operate

Dotz funds, installs, operates and maintains the new heating system.

04

Deliver and verify

The customer receives reliable heat, predictable savings and measurable carbon reduction.

Decarbonise heat without replacing operational certainty

80%

Lower CO₂ emissions

High-efficiency heat pumps, intelligent controls, thermal storage and energy optimisation reduce dependence on fossil-fuel heating while maintaining reliable heat delivery.

Heating as a Service

Potential reduction varies by site, existing fuel, electricity source, system design and operating profile. Emissions performance is measured and reported annually.

The commercial model

Savings built into the heating rate

Pay for delivered heat — not new infrastructure.

Predictable savings

A contracted saving against the agreed fuel baseline.

Zero capital

Dotz funds the equipment and installation.

Long-term certainty

A 10-year base term with annual renewal options thereafter.

The current fuel cost becomes the agreed base case, which follows the contractually agreed gas, diesel or mazut index. Dotz supplies heat at a contracted rate below that base case — a fixed saving against the agreed indexed base case, without the customer purchasing the equipment.
Installation and operation

Installed around your operations

Designed to avoid interruption to normal operations, with existing boilers retained for resilience.

Minimal disruption

Installation is planned around site operations and existing heating requirements.

Backup retained

Existing boilers remain available for redundancy, peak demand and resilience.

Fully managed

Dotz operates, monitors and maintains the system.

High-quality equipment

Premium heat pumps, storage, controls and metering are selected for the site.

Technology

One managed system, selected for your site

Premium equipment chosen for the site — kept secondary to the outcomes it delivers.

Dotz AI monitoring and optimisation

Battery storage can charge during off-peak periods and support more efficient, lower-cost operation when demand or electricity prices are higher.

Measurement and reporting

Every outcome measured

Metering and monitoring provide transparent reporting on heat delivery, system performance, savings and carbon reduction.

Delivered heat

Metered heat output supplied to the site.

Financial performance

The contracted rate against the agreed fuel baseline.

CO₂ reduction

Emissions avoided relative to the base case, reported annually.

Which model fits?

Heating as a Service vs. Shared Savings

Heating as a Service
  • Customer purchases delivered heat.
  • The saving is embedded in the contracted rate.
  • Dotz funds, owns, operates and maintains the system.
  • Best suited to customers seeking predictable heat costs and outsourced plant-room responsibility.
Shared Savings
  • Savings are measured against a baseline.
  • Verified savings are shared between Dotz and the customer.
  • Best suited to customers who prefer a performance-based savings arrangement.

FAQ

Common questions

What is Heating as a Service?

Dotz Energy designs, funds, installs, operates and maintains a lower-carbon heating system on your site. You purchase the heat it produces at a contracted rate — you don't buy or operate the equipment.

How is the heating rate calculated?

We first establish your current gas, diesel or mazut cost as an agreed base case. The Heating as a Service rate is then set below that indexed baseline, so the saving is built into every unit of heat delivered.

Is the rate fixed or indexed?

The base case follows the contractually agreed fuel index, and the Dotz rate is set below it. This creates a predictable saving against that index — not a fixed currency price for the full term, unless the contract expressly states otherwise.

Who pays for the equipment and installation?

Dotz Energy funds, owns and installs the heating system. There is no upfront capital expenditure for the customer.

Will installation interrupt normal operations?

Installation is planned around your operations and existing heating requirements to minimise disruption, with controlled commissioning and handover.

Do our existing boilers need to be removed?

No. Existing boilers are retained and stay connected as backup, supporting redundancy and peak demand.

Who operates and maintains the new system?

Dotz Energy takes full responsibility for operating, monitoring and maintaining the system for the life of the contract.

How much can carbon emissions be reduced?

Up to 80%, depending on the site's existing fuel, electricity source, system design and operating profile.

How are heat delivery and carbon savings measured?

Metering and monitoring provide transparent reporting on heat delivery, system performance, savings and carbon reduction.

How is Heating as a Service different from Shared Savings?

Heating as a Service sells delivered heat at a contracted rate, with the saving built into that rate. Shared Savings instead measures savings against a baseline and shares them between Dotz and the customer. See the comparison below.

What happens at the end of the 10-year base term?

The base contract runs for 10 years, followed by annual renewal options.

Ready to make heat more predictable and less carbon-intensive?

We assess your current fuel use, heating demand and site infrastructure to determine the most suitable Heating as a Service model.
